White Thanksgiving

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Nope not down here in hot Texas…this is of course taken off of Grandma and Grandpa’s deck in Syracuse KS, it is just beautiful. To someone who grew up in Texas where it might snow every ten years or so…snow is one of those magical things that I will never take for granted…yes I know it gets yucky, dirty after it sits on the ground for days but still, how cool is this! Harry put up Christmas lights outside yesterday…It was too hot out there for me so I came in 🙁
Logan said, “Oh Wow! That’s Great!” Isaac said, “Wow, can we go play in it???”

Weekend Plans

Friday, November 21st, 2008

Pretty quiet weekend planned here, Logan came home sick from school today, he has been sleeping for two hours. The weather changes and they always get sick, Harry is sick too…maybe Dad gave Logan the bug. House is clean and disinfected to keep Isaac and I healthy and we have plans for a pot of chili and to hold the couch down in our most comfy sweats to watch Texas Tech Vs. Oklahoma Saturday night. Just in case you did not see it, here are the highlights of the Red Raiders kicking the Longhorns patooty, the last seven seconds of the game were the best.

Saturday Morning Nature Walk

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008
One of the benefits of living where we do is having a nature preserve behind our house complete with views of the Brazos river, it is beautiful and a short walk that the boys can burn some energy on. Saturday morning was finally cool here and we decided to bundle up with some coffee and go down the the river for our ritual “coffee talk” for Harry and I and a little rock throwing (for the boys). My camera settings were acting up so most of the photos did not turn out but here is what we got…Just to get a glimpse of what the trail looks like, it is about a mile long, round trip.

Nursery Inspiration

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008
Whether we have a pink or a blue baby I think I have decided on a simple “theme” for the nursery, something different, something sweet. I’m going with woods animals. Isaac and Logan had farm animals in their nursery and after our visit to San Francisco’s Muir Woods I deemed it to be the most perfect place…at least in the States. The smells are intoxicating, you feel like an elf the trees are so tall and it is cool and dark even on a sunny day. This is just one of the tree trunks of the fantastic Redwood trees in California.

I found this little guy this morning at Urban Outfitters in Rice Village while waiting to go to my 10:20 Dr.’s appointment which got cancelled due to another patients baby being born. It will find a home in the nursery as well…up high of course.

Then we’re gonna paint this tree and owl on the wall…what do you think?

50th Day of School

Friday, November 7th, 2008
Isaac and Logan are celebrating their 50th day of school with a “50’s theme party” They were too excited to dress “Cool” they got to take their sun glasses and all. They wanted me to take their picture so that Grandma and Grandpa could see how they looked today!

It was a great Halloween – 1st time in the new neighborhood and we weren’t sure what to expect. The old neighborhood was pretty dead (wuh huh huh! <- Dracula laugh) the first year, but it picked up every year.

Firemen ready for patrol with the neighbor’s “fire dog” Missy

Casa Grilliot pre-dark: looked much more impressive post-dark. We counted based on glow-sticks distributed 90 patrons, this is about as accurate as a presidential poll but it was a good turnout regardless.

This years jack-o-lantern’s. It was generally a pirate theme this year (even pirates need fires put out from time to time)
Oh-Dark:30 – time to collect bribes of candy for passing fire inspection. Note the pirates in the jeep for a continuation of the pirate theme.

Our escort Hot Dog Pia – lives in the same house as Fire Dog Missy. Was really a trooper, kept the meat in the bun the whole trip.

The candy haul still stands at approx. 4 lbs nearly 72 hours after collection.

VOTE TOMORROW (if you haven’t already)!!!!
