Jonah Harrison 3 Months Big

Monday, March 30th, 2009
Three months already! It is so amazing how fast time flies when raising kids. Here is what we know about Jonah at three months….
  • A whopping 13lbs!
  • He is still such a GOOD baby, he hardly ever complains, no complaints from Mom either
  • Loves to be held, especially by Daddy…we think he likes the altitude up there
  • Started grabbing things and putting them in his mouth last week, he has a toy zebra that is his favorite
  • Still smiles and talks to anyone willing to listen
  • Sleeps like a baby, on and off again, but we have the nights pretty much worked out where everyone is happy. He snuggles up with me since I am nursing him and politely “taps” me instead of crying to eat in the middle of the night…such a nice baby.
  • His hair on the top has fallen out but is quickly growing back, hopefully it stays red.
  • Hasn’t figured out how to get his thumb actually in his mouth but loves to suck on his fist, nothing synthetic for this kid, he is not interested in a pacifier at all.
  • He rolled over already! A week or so ago we were at my sisters and I was telling her how he is throwing his legs over to start to roll and all of sudden he did it and went all the way over, we were both in shock! He has two big brothers to keep up with he is getting ready.
  • And he loves his big brothers, stares at them all the time. They still annoy him when they are too loud and he lets them know it but for the most part they are a good source of entertainment for Jonah…and Harry and I

Relay for Life

Monday, March 30th, 2009
The Grilliot family participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life Friday night (as most of Kansas was preparing for or participating in a blizzard), the cold front rolled through here not long before the event started and the temperature plummeted into the high 50’s.

There was still a good turnout, everyone was walking briskly and the hot chocolate stand was a popular hang-out. In the interest of healthy children we didn’t go all night, I imagine the crowd was pretty thin in the wee hours, Texans and cold don’t mix.

Big thanks to everyone who pitched in to my last minute fundraising request, I had over $400 come in from family, friends, & coworkers. We walked for Grandpa Tim, Aunt Karen, Meema Barbara, Uncle Jerry, Uncle Ken, Aunt Sheila, Manny & Jessica (both on our team), and everyone else in our family who’s battled cancer.

Below is the luminary that Mom got for Grandpa, there were a few hundred that lined the “track”, very beautiful and moving.

Bumbo Piggies

“A” Family, he loves it! Thank you!! We sit him on the kitchen table with us when we eat and he is as happy as can be, Isaac and Logan love it and argue over who gets to sit next to him!

Isaac looks so little here which I love, the boys are so grown up now…I’m really excited they are turning five, because they are so excited. But I’m a little sad too, my babies are kids now. It is okay and I know it is just the next adventure of ours and their lives but wow they grow up fast…more pictures coming. Thanks for the comments everyone, I really appreciate hearing from you !

Fun being 4

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009
Just a few days shy of turning 5 I’m trying to catch the boys being themselves instead of just posing for the camera. This is just a daily “no no” in the Grilliot house…someone is gonna get hurt, but just look at Logan’s face, he is having so much fun! Ok ok, be a kid, jump on the bed, chase each other around the house, empty the entire roll of toilet paper into the toilet, build forts out of blankets and pillows, crawl around and bark like a dog. That’s what it’s all about. Just don’t tell anyone that I secretly do these things with them…minus the TP trick!

love my Daddy-O…

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009
Daddy is definitely among the popular crowd for Mr. Jonah. I love catching them having little conversations about the day and Jonah is talking right back to Harry. It is like they have their own little language and they understand each other completely. If Jonah spots his Daddy from across the room he definitely lets him know he needs to pay a little more attention to him…which of course Daddy has no problem doing. I was making dinner tonight and the two of them were just playing around while Isaac and Logan were running circles around us, it is truly a perfect world. I’m happy to capture life’s little moments like this.

Dangerous Work to Do

Saturday, March 21st, 2009
Or perhaps a rich and creamy predicament of a similar color. According to eye witnesses, Speed was half way through day 4 of the grueling 12-day transcontinental Rocky Road Rally. Despite repeated warnings from Pops about Chunky Monkey Forest trail, Speed sped through the Banana Split and ended up in a sticky situation indeed. Spritle and Chim Chim were quick to volunteer for the rescue mission.
His run at the rally is done, will Speed’s luck soon change???

Lots of Sweetness

Saturday, March 21st, 2009
It has been a long week, boys were sick for spring break so I have not had much of a chance to post anything. I did manage to make a St. Patrick’s Day treat that I wanted to share here, they were really yummy…I only had one I swear!

Mint Oreo Truffles

1 pkg. Double Stuf Oreos – Cool Mint Flavor – (1 lb. , 1 oz. pkg.)
• use 22 cookies with cream centers included
• use 10 cookies with cream centers discarded
1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, room temperature
chocolate bark or candy coating*

Finely crush the cookies in a food processor or a ziploc bag with a rolling pin.
Stir in softened cream cheese. Use the back of a large spoon to help mash the two together completely.
Roll the mixture into 1″ balls and place on wax paper covered cookie sheet.
Place covered in freezer or refrigerator for a few minutes to help retain shape when dipping in melted chocolate.
Melt chocolate as directed on the package and then dip balls into chocolate, tap off extra and set aside on wax paper covered cookie sheet to dry.
Refrigerate and enjoy!

Then there was this bit of sweetness…Daddy just got home…

Could it be?? Speed Racer is trading the Mach 5 for a JEEP?

Mr. Racer could not be reached for comment, apparently no cell coverage where he’s going. According to reports by Spritle, Trixie is coming around a LOT more, Pops passes it off as a “phase”, and mysterious Racer X had of course no comment. Some hand notes from Speed were found with apparent plans to convert jump jacks into a lift kit.
