Jonah Harrison – 5 Months Big

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Photobucket

  • Wow, five months! This one snuck up on me, if I had the capability to slow down time I would
  • Broken record here, he is SUCH a good baby, sweet boy, and happy little person.
  • He produces about a bucket of drool everyday.
  • Toys are a must now, he loves to look at them, touch them, chew them, devour them.
  • Talking up a storm now, “Maaaaaaaa” and just today he is saying “Daaaaa!!!” he always sounds like he is saying “Hi” too but I’m sure it is just one of his little noises. He puts them all together for a pretty amusing little story. If you’re able to listen, he is willing to tell.
  • His toes have taken up a residence in his mouth lately; his feet are handy to have when there are no toys around.
  • He has rolling over down and can almost make it across the room, his little tookus is making its way up and he is tucking under his knees, we think crawling is right around the corner.
  • He can sit as long as he is propped but still is a weeble wobble.
  • Has absolutely NO interest in solid food. He is just not ready yet I guess.
  • Oh and we decided to go a little more “formal” for this months pictures. See Harry owning your own tux does come in handy!

How do you celebrate the end of a school year?

Friday, May 29th, 2009
With Ice Cream of course! The boys cousin came along for a well deserved ice cream treat marking the end of Pre-K and a third year of high school. Another Time Soda Fountain was just the place to find yummy treats to satisfy a kid of any age.

I let everyone order what they wanted, Logan told the waitress, “I want a strawberry sunday with every kind of sugar you have on top” The lady looked at me and I said, “Hey, what ever he wants…in moderation!”

Ten on Tuesday

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
1. Woke up yesterday and decided to get out of the house for the day so we headed to the hill country…one of then nice things about living where we do is that there is a lot to see and do. Pretty much no matter what direction you head there is something neat right around the corner. We headed to Brenham then to Independence, TX.
Photobucket
2. These were taken in an alley we found in Brenham while looking for lunch…everything was closed because of Memorial day, lunch turned out pretty bad at a local schmorgisborg that was…well interesting. I’ll leave it at that.
Photobucket
3. Logan has decided to start haming it up for the camera

Photobucket
4. Isaac…not so much. OH yeah, he no longer calls us Mom and Dad, he calls us Harry and Heather. Isn’t that like against the law or something?

Photobucket
5. The Antique Rose Emporium is one of my favorite places to visit in the spring, everything is in bloom and there is a bit of whimsey in their gardens which always makes it interesting to visit.

Photobucket
6. one of the employees (big white dog) followed us around, he was so excited to see the boys. The twins were a little nervous so I told Logan to introduce himself and the dog accepted his friendship and posed for this shot…

Photobucket
7. Everytime I tell the boys to stand together let me take their picture, this is usually how it starts out…they end up on the ground wrestling…everytime. Boys.

Photobucket
8. Little man had fun too, he is such a tag-along kid.

Photobucket
9. Ok I got one non-silly shot of Isaac. I think he is getting really bored with the camera these days. He would rather be behind it like me, tells me everyday he wants to be a photographer when he grows up…I tell him, ME TOO!

Photobucket
10. Boys are out of school on Thursday. Not sure what is going to happen to my blog time since I will be running the Grilliot Day Camp. I have almost every hour of the day scheduled with something to do, I don’t know how to manage it otherwise. I want to keep them happy and Mommy sane. We’ll see how it goes, Wish me Luck!

Summer is offically here…

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Only 3 days left of school after today! Time to roll around in the grass, eat watermelon, play at the pool and spend as much time outside as possible…well as much as we can stand the Texas heat that is…

Old Yeller

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

I lost my voice today (hopefully I will find it soon) so here was the conversation in the car on the way home from school today…

Isaac: Mom what’s wrong with your voice?

Me: I just can’t talk very loud

Isaac: Oh…I guess I have to start listening to you now since you can’t yell anymore.

Me: Do I yell?

Isaac: Oh YEAH!

St. Isidore – Patron Saint of Farmers

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Photobucket

May 15, 2009 St. Isidore the Farmer (1070-1130)

Isidore has become the patron of farmers and rural communities. In particular he is the patron of Madrid, Spain, and of the United States National Rural Life Conference.
When he was barely old enough to wield a hoe, Isidore entered the service of John de Vergas, a wealthy landowner from Madrid, and worked faithfully on his estate outside the city for the rest of his life. He married a young woman as simple and upright as himself who also became a saint—Maria de la Cabeza. They had one son, who died as a child.

Isidore had deep religious instincts. He rose early in the morning to go to church and spent many a holiday devoutly visiting the churches of Madrid and surrounding areas. All day long, as he walked behind the plow, he communed with God. His devotion, one might say, became a problem, for his fellow workers sometimes complained that he often showed up late because of lingering in church too long.

He was known for his love of the poor, and there are accounts of Isidore’s supplying them miraculously with food. He had a great concern for the proper treatment of animals.

He died May 15, 1130, and was declared a saint in 1622 with Ignatius of Loyola, Francis Xavier, Teresa of Avila and Philip Neri. Together, the group is known in Spain as “the five saints.”

“God blessed them, saying: ‘Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it…. See, I give you every seed-bearing plant all over the earth and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit on it to be your food; and to all the animals of the land, all the birds of the air, and all the living creatures that crawl on the ground, I give all the green plants for food’” (Genesis 1:28a, 29–30a).

I’m such a lucky mom!

Monday, May 11th, 2009
You know that feeling when you are alseep that someone is standing there looking at you? Well I did yesterday morning, I opened my eyes to four eyes staring back at me, “Happy Mother’s Day Mom!” The boys made an art project for me that will be proudly hung in our new art room (more on that later) Then Harry announced that we were going to Austin for the day. I was shocked as I thought we had other plans.

Photobucket
We stopped in Bastrop State Park for a little drive through the winding tree filled hills…and a couple photos

Photobucket
Logan was trying to sign “I Love You” this was his best attempt 🙂

Then it was lunch time..

Photobucket
We stopped at Home Slice Pizza. The crust is fantastic, thank goodness it is in Austin and not in Houston otherwise we would be there waaaaayyyy too much!

Photobucket

We headed out check out the local shops on Congress
Photobucket
and we stopped at Big Top Candy Shop. The boys knew there was a candy shop and we just could not get there fast enough. They have some fantastic salt water taffy and a great old fashion soda fountain. You can get Wonka bars, chocolate bandaids, Oh and Chocolate Covered Bacon!

This little girl came up to me in the store…full of so many cool toys and said, “Hey that is a cool camera!” I said, “Yes! I think it is too!!!” She asked me to take her picture and I gladly did…she was thrilled to see her image in the review screen

Photobucket

Photobucket
yes Mom I know you don’t like this 🙂

Photobucket
(but Mom you should like this one instead. Love you!)

So we ended the day by stopping at Berdoll Pecan Farm it is a fantastic pecan shop where you can spend way too much money on honey glazed pecans that are too easy to eat that you have to hide the bag before they are all gone….Harry have you seen the bag? I can’t find it!

It was a fantastic day, I have been wanting to go to Austin for a while now to just “play” and take pictures of my family which I had a blast doing. It was a perfect day for me. Thank you Family! Love you!

Flashback Friday – Italy

Friday, May 8th, 2009
I’m finally starting to look back at some of the photos I took on vacations and sort through them, I took hundreds in Rome Italy when we went for our 5th wedding anniversary back in January 07′ and figured why not share a couple. There was so much to see, so much marble, graffiti, cannolis and shoes…oh the shoes! There was a Catholic church around every corner and each one is more impressive than the last. Funny thing about Rome though, it is a very dirty city and not very holy.
Photobucket
The Vatican City is holy and beautiful though, this is one of my favorite pictures from St. Peters. I could write for hours on how magnificent this place alone is…
Photobucket

And because most people associate the Colosseum with Rome…
