Spring Kitchen Garden

Friday, April 25th, 2014

Hi Mom,

I wanted to show you some things that were growing in our spring garden right now.  Everything is in full bloom here and it won’t be long before it is flourishing.  I love seeing all the new things coming up but am always surprised at what is actually doing well before it really warms up.

Mint, we planted it in a pot this year to keep it from taking over the yard.  Miles loves to pick leaves, smell them then chuck them over the side of the deck.  I hope they won’t take root down there…

On the corner of our kitchen (herb) garden is a thriving crop of sage.  It came back from last summer…

Look at those blooms!

and although there is not much to see in our veggie garden, the lettuce is starting to come up.  As are the carrots, peas, beets, kale, spinach, pole beans, strawberries…

and radishes.

We also planted seven different heirloom tomatoes which should be fun to see when they start growing!

As this little squirt is fun to watch grow too.  He loves being outside!

And just for fun, since I showed my kitchen garden, I thought I should show an “AS IS” shot of my kitchen too as I came back inside last night.

Ok, love you!  Heather

5 Day Puppy

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2014

Yes, 5 days.

5 days of remorse.

5 days of panic.

5 days of sweet puppy kisses and snuggles that made the twins really sick.

I learned my lesson.  We are not going to be a pet family.

Logan and Isaac are allergic to not just pet dander, but also dog saliva.  So that means any licks, nibbles, basically contact with the dog was almost impossible.  We found her a new home.  She is happy. She has another pup to play with.

We are getting our health back.

This still makes me sad though.  Miles loved her.

But we love these guys more.  Here is our outtake from Easter….this made me laugh.

Jonah announced yesterday (the day the dog left)….”Its a sad day, Mommy” I looked up at the rear view mirror and his head was hung low.  “Why?” I asked.  He looked up at me and started laughing. “I’m just kidding!”  he said, “I really don’t care about the dog.  She made my brothers sick.”

Glad they are not sad. 🙂
